Distribution of Soil Health Cards and Quality Planting Material of Cabbage and Turnip on International Year of Soil’ 2015 by KVK Anjaw.
On the occasion of International Year of Soil’2015, KVK Anjaw observed Soil Health Day, on 5th Dec. 2015 at Community Hall, Hayuliang. The session was started with welcome address by Dr Manish Kanwat, Senior Scientist cum Head, KVK Anjaw. B Towsik, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Hayuliang grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. C. Tindya, Anchal Samiti Chairperson (Metengliang), T.T. Hai, Horticulture Development Officer, K Tamang, Fisheries Officer and representatives from other line departments were also witnessed the programme.
Khoisnam Naveen, SMS (Agronomy) delivered a concise lecture on the importance of Soil Health Card and its uses in agricultural production. He further informed the farmers on how to take the soil sample for future analysis as retesting of soil will be done at every three years of interval to update the current soil status.
T.T. Hai, HDO, Hawai also spoke on the importance of Soil Health Card to know the soil status of cultivable area in order to apply fertilizer and other manures in right proportion at optimum level. He explained that some disease of agriculture crops are directly linked with the soil nutrient of cultivable land as a result the production and productivity of crop is affected. In this context soil health card will mitigate the problem to some extent.
B Towsik, ADC, Hayuliang appreciated the efforts done by the team of KVK, Anjaw for distributing the Soil Health Cards to 277 farmers of 10 villages which comes under in Hayuliang and Metengliang circle. He also asked the participant farmers to make use of Soil Heath Card in order to excel the crop production in the district and help them for making self-sufficient and self-reliant in the food security.
C. Tindya, ASM chairperson, delivered the vote of thanks, while appreciating the KVK Anjaw, tiredness working for the benefit of farming community and encourage the farmers to know the importance of Soil Health Card and its applicability in field level to improve land use system for higher production of Agri. and allied produce.
KVK Anjaw has also distributed the quality Cabbage and Turnip saplings to the individual Soil Health Card holders for getting better vegetables production. This distribution was also done by the Sh B.Towsik Additional Deputy Commissioner, Hayuling and Anchal Chairperson (Metengliang).
